another dinner, another day gone by

dinner means a full stomach,
most of the time.
also bedtime following for the children.
it means even though the sun may have set,
the fun has just begun.
my favorite time of the day.

the cat with un-numbered days

It is said cats have nine lives. Smokey has somehow managed to continually escape the chopping block. Bad kitty for peeing on my kitchen floor! You are so cute and cuddly, though!

tears

onions do not make me cry,
unless they are strong cooking onions,
then they make me cry.
perfectly fried onions and peppers
make me cry too.
so do sad stories,
and certain websites,
and commercials.

remove pj's to cook

there is an oft overlooked rule- "one must not cook shrimp while in pajamas"
on came the jeans and t-shirt for my foray into the kitchen to whip up shrimp scampi and broccoli alfredo
the engagement photos are edited, although some will continue to be tweaked for sure
time for some coffee and pajamas :-)

It's a start

Sometimes I am just too busy to bother cooking. Take tonight for instance. I had photos to edit for Mandie and Andy. Sure, they could wait till tomorrow, but I can't wait! The kids ate leftover sub from lunch, and Casey whipped up some chicken to compliment our leftovers from last night. Served with sparkling pink grape juice, it was perfect.

Another First Snow

It snowed today, the first time this fall. Turning onto my road, on my drive home from class, the urge to pull over was strong. My black bag was tugging at my mind like a canker sore that does not want to fade. Pull over! Open me! You know you want to! Why do I resist so adamantly? I never know. If I do not imediatley answer that call, delight in this whim, I know it will most likely not be satisfied. Spontaneity is the key. Do not think. Just act. I kept driving. Down our road, closer to the warmth of my husband's arms, smiling children, I continue. The brakes lock. The tires squeal. I put the protesting car in reverse. I go back. I am satisfied.
